Endion Hospitalist of WNY, P.C. has been retained to provide hospitalist services at Sisters of Charity Hospital – St. Joseph Campus in Cheektowaga, New York.  Romel Bertulfo, M.D. has been named Endion site director for the facility.

A hospitalist is a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner trained in internal medicine and other specialties whose focus is on caring for hospitalized patients. Hospitalists do not maintain an outpatient practice. A hospitalist focuses his or her attention on the hospitalized patient, managing care by coordinating and consulting with specialists, closely monitoring the patient’s progress and staying in touch with the patient, the family and the patient’s primary care physician.

“Hospitalist medicine has dramatically transformed patient care,” says Endion CEO, John Brach, M.D.  “Faced with ever-increasing patient volume and complexity, primary care physicians have found that hospitalist partnerships provide the means to improve practice efficiencies and economics while assuring continued high-quality care and best outcomes for our shared patients.

By addressing the unique needs of each hospital, our programs have brought high quality and value to both patient communities and our hospital partners.”

Dr. Bertulfo, who joined Endion in 2007, graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. He completed a post-graduate internship at the Bicol Medical Center in the Philippines and an internal medicine internship at the Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He is a resident of Orchark Park, NY. He will oversee all aspects of hospitalist services for Endion at the St. Joseph Campus.
